WebNov 22, 2006 · The Atlas switches need 16 to 20v AC. The DCC system will NOT work. I bought an 18 volt AC power transformer from Radio Shack for $30. It plugs in to the wall and you connect the 2 leads to the inputs on the Atlas slider switch then the 3 wires from the slider switch connect to the remote switch machine. Yes, Atlas are cheaper to buy the first time, but if you have to keep replacing them, the cost adds up quickly. Atlas switches have their flangeways 'way too wide, are rough-riding, and have serious contact problems with short-wheelbase locos.
