Just to confirm, what you did exactly was press "DDLC" and then "Exit DDLC" and nothing else, correct?

WebDDLC and DDLC+ run on two completely different engines. Most mods are for regular DDLC since Ren'Py is much easier to mod then Unity. The tutorial is assuming you're trying to mod DDLC and not DDLC+. Edit: Also, the files you edit, like splash.rpy should be in whatever template you're using, not in the actual DDLC game itself.
